Ben Caronna (President) has more than 35 years of experience in General Contracting and Construction Development.
Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management, Ben worked in the field as a Carpenter. He went on to work for a well-established union carpentry company in New York, and was soon promoted to Senior VP of Operations.
A few years later, Ben started his own construction company and built it into a full-service construction management/general construction firm in the NY/NJ/CT Tri-State area, grossing more than $50M annually.
Ben currently has offices in New York as well as in Florida. He has a hands-on approach with Stonegate Contracting Group, and works closely with his employees on the day to day activities in Florida, while his son Joseph runs the office in New York.
Ben ensures each project is appropriately staffed and efficiently operated. He monitors the progress of each of the Superintendents and is a liaison with the trades, and Building Department.
During his thirty plus year career, Ben has built hundreds of retail stores, restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, movie theaters, industrial buildings, pharmacy’s, schools, shopping centers, banks and more.
Ben and his wife Jennifer have teenage twins, and enjoy traveling, family and rooting for their hometown Yankees.
Scott Wank (Director of Operations & Project Manager) has always been destined to be in the construction industry, with his family having constructed much of NYC over the last 40 years. Scott joined Stonegate Contracting Group, LLC in 2014, and brings nearly 30 years of business expertise with a career in Banking, Insurance and Real Estate Development.
Scott began his career in NY with Prudential Financial Services as an investment advisor working with their Real Estate Investment team. Scott spent the next ten years as a consultant with a group who purchased, rehabbed and sold commercial properties.
In 2000, after moving to Florida, he began working in the Mortgage Banking Industry as a Branch Manager for Flagstar Bank, where he spearheaded a new business model for residential and commercial lending throughout the state of Florida. In 2008, Scott joined Bank of America, and Managed their real estate development and new construction division.
In 2011, Scott’s knowledge expertise landed him with American Express and their Commercial Acquisition Group, where he was instrumental as a Project Manager for many of their new construction projects.
Scott holds a Florida Insurance License and is our Director of Operations and Project Management. He is involved in all aspects of Stonegate Contracting Group, both on the business side as well as in the field.
Outside of work, Scott and his wife Lisa are active with their two teenage sons, and enjoy family time, sports and travel.
Jennifer Caronna (HR/Office Manager) is Ben’s wife and has been with Stonegate since inception and was with the company in New York since 1995. Jennifer was highly instrumental in helping to grow their organization into a $50M diversified construction and development company. Jennifer has seen it all over the last twenty plus years, and is able to step in and wear any hat at any given time if needed.
Jennifer coordinates all department head meetings, schedules and inspections, and is our HR and Office Manager. Jennifer Handles client relations and keeps the office and administrative aspect of Stonegate running smoothly and efficiently.
Michael LaFratta (Commercial Business Development) Michael is a native New Yorker, who grew up in his family’s construction business. From an early age, Michael worked in every aspect of commercial and residential building. As Michael grew, he utilized his expertise in project management and business development to forge his own path by launching Silentium Soundproofing, Inc., and within a short time, built a million-dollar company that exclusively provided soundproofing for major hotels, restaurants, theaters, and multi-family condos, in and around NYC. Michael moved to south Florida last year to be closer to his family and is now part of the Stonegate family as a business development specialist in our office.
Dan Centers (Project Manager) Dan joined SCG in February 2019 as a Project Manager and is an all-around great guy. Dan brings nearly 30 years of Construction Management experience to our team. Having managed budgets and project teams for large companies, such as ConAm Development and HD Supply, Dan has competed more than 130 projects, totaling nearly $1B in both Commercial and Multi-Family Residential construction. A team player, Dan holds an excellent track record of strong working relationships with owners, architects, and engineers, consistently delivering projects on-time, and within budget.
